How to Pet the Cat

Tidy Up Together hides one soft secret in a game that is otherwise about honest labor: a shop cat you can pet. Steam lists the achievement as hidden. Global stats on launch weekend showed it at 100 percent. That is the tell. You do not need a guide to stumble into it, but you might want one if you somehow tidied an entire floor and still missed the animal.

This is not a combat pet, a farm animal, or a Roblox code. It is a cozy interactable in a wrecked Adventurer shop. Brazilian and English launch reviews both mentioned the cat on purpose. The studio wanted you to notice that the world is allowed to be kind while you sort 9,000 items.

Where to look

The cat lives in the shop space, not in a menu. Walk the counter, the open floor, and the quieter corners near shelves before you tunnel-vision on potions. Hidden achievements in this genre usually sit where a shopkeep would actually keep a cat: beside a counter, on a crate, or in a beam of light that survived the tornado.

You interact with it the same way you interact with products: look at it and use your interact action. If nothing happens, you are aiming at a crate. Crouch the camera the way you would for a tight pickup. The controls page explains why aim is fussy in this build.

If you are in multiplayer, anyone in the session can try. Do not assume only the host can pet. If the achievement does not pop, leave the shop and re-enter, then try again before you file a bug. Steam Cloud will keep your tidy progress.

Why the wiki still bothers to write this

Because “how to pet the cat” is a real search, and because the badge is the one hidden item in a 12-achievement set. The other 11 are public: tidy each shop, beat each shop on a clock, beat each shop with no upgrades, unlock a first skill, and max every skill. The cat is the palate cleanser in that list.

Petting the cat does not tidy a shelf. It does not give coins. It does not skip the two-percent drip. It is allowed to be useless. That is the point. If you need a mechanical advantage, go back to the skill tier list. If you need a floor plan, go to the Shops Hub.

A calm first session that includes the cat:

  1. Start Wyrmling from Getting Started.
  2. Before you finish the last aisle, walk the counter and pet the cat.
  3. Tick it on the shop checklist so you never wonder later.
  4. Then finish the floor and look at your time.

If you already have the badge and you are only here for a smile, you are done. Go help a friend find theirs. The Leviathan Store is large enough that a cat can hide behind a late-game clutter pile, so do a lap there too if the achievement is still locked on a new save.

What this is not

This is not a missable story flag that bricks a run. Steam’s 100 percent unlock rate on day one means almost nobody is failing it. This is not an animal-care sim. Feed-and-groom loops are not part of the store-page feature list. This is not a hint that the wizard’s tornado has a secret sixth shop. Three shops are the published set: Wyrmling, Dragon, Leviathan.

If a future patch adds more animals, this page will say so after Steam does. Until then, pet the one cat, tidy the floor, and keep the medieval playlist on.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Pet the cat a hidden achievement?

Yes. Steam marks it hidden. Launch-weekend global stats showed it unlocking for everyone who played.

Does petting the cat give upgrades?

No. It is a cozy interact. Coins still arrive about every two percent of shop progress.

Can I pet the cat in the demo?

The demo is a unique smaller shop. Try the counter there, then confirm in the full game if the badge is missing.

Do I need to pet the cat in every shop?

The achievement is a single hidden badge. Still do a lap in larger shops if it has not unlocked on your save.
